Weekly programme
The weekly programme is the lowest and finest level of scheduling. It records which trade works on which element over the coming weeks – by day rather than by week, and for a manageable period rather than for the whole project.
Time horizon and structure
A rolling window of roughly four calendar weeks is common, with columns for the working days Monday to Friday. Rows are structured by work area and by trade – that is, by element or building and by the contractor carrying out the work.
- The element or work area as a row group, so it becomes visible where several trades work at the same time.
- A separate row for site management inspections, so that checkpoints are not lost.
- A remarks column for conditions attached to a date.
- A version and status date, since the programme is reissued every week.
Relation to the master programme
The weekly programme does not replace the master programme; it implements it. The higher-level schedule sets what has to be finished within a period; the weekly programme distributes that requirement across days and trades. If it runs ahead of or behind the master programme, that is an early sign of deviation – often the first one site management gets at all.
Because it is redrawn every week, it also documents the actual sequence most closely. Kept and dated, it becomes evidence of when each trade was in fact on site.
